Q:okay, so, I have been treadmilling (totally a word) and I do 15 minutes, take a break, 15 minutes more. is that less effective than doing 30 minutes straight? I speed up every 5 minutes, so it gets more intense, and stuff.
I’ve heard that the most effective thing you can do on a treadmill is HIIT (high intensity interval training). Here is a source that explains a bit about what that is, though if you google “HIIT cardio, you’ll find a ton of results.
I’m not sure if your 15 + 15 is any different than a 30. I believe the efficacy of your workout has more to do with the intensity and how quickly you switch between intervals.
Does that make sense? I’m no personal trainer so maybe one of my followers can reply to this post and agree/disagree/offer more insight.

agree! i asked this to the trainer in our gym and she said that it really doesn’t matter if you take a break in between. what matters is that you get to finish it & that the quality of your ‘performance’ during the workout is effective. :)
