BLACK MARCHThursday, March 1st 2012 to Saturday 31st March 2012
With the continuing campaigns for Internet-censoring litigation such as SOPA and PIPA, and the closure of sites such as Megaupload under allegations of ‘piracy’ and ‘conspiracy’ the time has come to take a stand against music, film and media companies’ lobbyists.
The only way is to hit them where it truly hurts.Their profit margins.
March 2012 is the end of the 1st quarter in economic reports worldwide.
Do not buy a single record. Do not download a single song, legally or illegally. Do not go to see a single film in cinemas, or download a copy, Do not buy a DVD in the stores. Do not buy a videogame. Do not buy a single book or magazine.
Wait the 4 weeks to buy them in April: see the film later, etc. Holding out for just 4 weeks, maximum, will leave a gaping hole in media and entertainment companies’ profits for the 1st quarter, an economic hit which will in turn be observed by governments worldwide as stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes. This action can give a statement of intent:
”We will not tolerate the Media Industries’ lobbying for legistation which will censor the internet.”

Wow, okay, this actually might have some impact. Normally “hole in the earnings” activism is doomed to fail because if we all take a day off from buying gasoline without changing our driving habits then at the end of the week we’ve still used the same amount of gas, but in this case… the specific way industry focuses on profits on a quarterly basis, this might get noticed.
I’ll add to this because I’m a comic book buyer: DC Comics is Warner Bros. Marvel Comics is Disney. So yes, they count.

i’ll do this. who’s in? i would also say don’t rent anything, don’t watch hulu or netflix instant, and put your netflix or hulu plus accounts on suspended status for the month if you can. hit em hard!

It’s on.

Black March: preceded by Red February, during which I go over my DL limit grabbing stuff to get me through the boycott.
But seriously though, I reckon this is doable.

I’m joining in — but to be fair, I rarely purchase these things anyway so it’ll be easier for me than it is for some.

Welcome to my weight loss and healthy living blog!

I hope you'll take some time to explore the pages on my sidebar -- I have lots of helpful info stowed there.

Ask box is turned on for now, but asks are piling up. I don't have time to answer every ask I receive and sometimes it takes me awhile to answer. So please keep that in mind and be patient! Scroll down for lots of pages! The Skinny followers

If you'd like to ask me an off topic question, please do it here: http://rvbyred.tumblr.com/ask

You can call me Ruby.

I am not a dietician, personal trainer, or doctor. I am just someone who adopted a healthy lifestyle and lost weight as a result. It took me over a year to lose my weight and I did it in a healthy way. I do not have an eating disorder, nor do I promote any unhealthy behavior.

Please check out the links on my sidebar before asking questions, since you might find your answer there.

I am no longer able to answer every question I receive. Please check my faq, pages, recently asked questions, and google, before asking. And please don't ask me things that can be answered by simply researching online ;p If you'd like to learn more about me, follow my personal blog: http://rvbyred.tumblr.com/
