Hi, I’m Ruby.
I’ve been around this block a few times. On January 1st, 2010, I was at my HW of 174 lbs. I’ve lost over 40 lbs and plan on losing less than 5 more. I know I can do this because I’ve done it before, but this time I’m doing it with a healthy and positive attitude.
I don’t believe that your weight determines your value as a person. I have friends of all shapes and sizes. I love them for the love and beauty they bring to my life, not the space they occupy. So if you are into shaming or ridiculing people of different sizes, pleas unfollow.
That said, there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight to improve your appearance or get healthier. There is something wrong with wanting to lose weight because you feel like it is the only way you will ever feel happy or loved. If you feel this way, you have a lot of work to do on your inside before you begin trying to improve your outside. If you feel that way, talk to someone you trust about it. If you feel like you can’t talk to anyone, talk to me.
You are worthy of love and affection. You are already enough.
What I Post
So what kind of posts can you expect from this blog? Here’s a short list.
Photos- I post a lot of photos of women. I do not consider this “thinspo.” I think the term “thinspo” carries with it an unhealthy connotation. I post these photos because I do believe that picturing your ideal body type can help motivate weight loss. However, I don’t believe these women are inherently better than I am just because they might be thinner. I also only post photos that I believe are beautiful—nice camera work, beautiful clothing, gorgeous makeup— something about the photo caught my eye other than the fact that the model was svelte.
Nutrition- I’m constantly researching articles on diet and nutrition. If I find something helpful, I like to share it. You won’t find any “pro-ana tips and tricks” here, just information on living a healthy life. I also work in the supplement industry, so I have a special interest in vitamins and sports nutrition.
Fitness- I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a beginner with this one. Despite having played sports my entire life, I feel like I don’t know as much as I could about training, lifting, etc, but I’m trying to learn!
Questions- Ask me a question and I’ll do my best to answer it. Keep in mind that I’m no professional, but I do like to answer questions! I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately, so if I don’t answer right away don’t assume I deleted your question. I try my best to answer them all in a timely fashion. (It does help me if you check my FAQ before you ask me a question though. That way I don’t have to waste time answering the same questions over and over.)
Personal stuff- Sometimes I post photos of myself or things from my life. I like to craft things and go on adventures. I also like to beg strangers for advice on outfits. : )
